M120 LLB/LawEU (4 years)
The course follows the same pattern as the ordinary LLB (M100). However, the third year is spent studying at a European university. This will provide you with knowledge and understanding of civil law systems generally and the law of at least one EU country. We currently have links with universities in Paris, Berlin, Sienna, Copenhagen, Leuven, Utrecht and Leiden.
You will benefit considerably from your year overseas. Most students return with excellent results from the overseas assessments, and the extra understanding and insight gained is of considerable benefit to your final year of study.

Students wishing to study at an institution that does not teach in English must have fluent language skills and be prepared to take language classes provided by the College.

Most law graduates enter legal practice, in the UK or overseas. Queen Mary graduates who wish to become solicitors, are guaranteed a place at the College of Law to study for the professional examinations. We have close links with the profession, including our own graduates and there is full support for those seeking training contracts to become solicitors, and for those seeking places at the Bar. But equally a law degree indicates skills that can lead into commerce, finance, industry or government. The experience gained during the year overseas widens the opportunities available on graduation, whether in the UK or overseas.
Assessment is mainly by examination, but some optional modules have an element of course work. Students in the final year of all the law programmes may choose to research and write a dissertation.
We welcome applications from candidates holding a wide variety of international qualifications. Please contact the Admissions Office on +44 (0)20 7882 5511 for further information.
Students who have been classified as overseas for fee paying purposes are required to pay 50 per cent tuition fees during their year abroad.
